Changing tires, fixing Fabis bike and visit Krka waterfalls

on 2012-10-15 in Croatia
The alarm rang at 7 a.m. and we realized there was heavy rain outside. So we quickly decided unanimously to put the alarm to 8 a.m. and get some more sleep.

Fortunately the sun came out once we got up later. So we packed up our bikes and were nearly ready to go. Denis was waiting for the other two guys when he heard Fabi shouting "F***". When Denis turned around, he was just able to see Fabi's bike tipping over. Basti and Denis were really curious what just happened. As it turned out, he wanted to put the bike on the center stand, slipped off, and basically just pushed it over.

After heavy laughing, we started our stage for the day. We were heading to the Krka Waterfalls. For Fabi and Basti there was no discussion to get rid of the clothes and jump into the water. Denis was the sissy of the group and waited on the bank. He still regrets this, but if asked he would never agree...

After some more riding we stopped at a gas station and Fabi mentioned that while he was riding it hit him that we were basically three guys with (Africa) Twins. This sounds a lot like "Threesome with Twins" he mentioned and as we laughed our name was born.

Back on our bikes we were looking for a garage which could fix Fabi's foot peg that he damaged two days ago and also to change tires. Split is quite a big city, but we couldn't find a bike shop or anything near to it. So we went to a Suzuki car garage and found a very friendly and helpful mechanic who was surprisingly from Germany. Our plan was to replace the peg with a new one. Since he could not replace it, he offered to try to bend it back. So he did! And he could even tell us the way to a tire shop which would be able to change motorcycle tires.

As you can see on the pictures, Basti went for the safe way and let the mechanics do all the work while Fabi quickly removed both tires himself. The picture of the bike standing solely on the main stand and a gas can surprised even the mechanics.

After we got the tires changed it got already dark and we left Split in quite a hurry to find a hotel.

We need a boat, not a bike

on 2012-10-16 in Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro
After driving through a short bit of Bosnia and again Croatia we arrived in Montenegro. As we drove through a small town the combination of the pouring rain and a non-existent sewer system resulted in what can only be described as traveling on a river instead of a road. There was water everywhere.

We bravely kept on going and were relieved when the weather finally got better. Even the sun came out later that day. A lot of the dogs on and by the side of the road had a weird look in their eyes when we passed them. Either they were scared because of our bikes or they did not really value their life. In any case, whenever we passed them, they made no sign of moving or getting out of the way.

Exhausted and tired from the day we were a little lost looking for a place to stay. Luckily, some local recognized the situation and convinced us with hands and feet to follow him. At the end of an approximately ten minute ride we arrived at a guesthouse we surely would not have found on our own.
